Good mental health is indicated by a person’s ability to perform daily life tasks, express, feel, maintain a balance between positive and negative emotions, and cope with stress.


WHY IS MENTAL HEALTH IMPORTANT?


Mental health plays a significant role in our lives. Good mental health leads to good physical health, contributes to effective work, building good relations with others, societal contributions, etc.


10 HABITS FOR GOOD MENTAL HEALTH & WELL BEING:


1) SLEEP FOR 8 HOURS: Sleep is crucial for both our physical and mental health. Sleeping well is defined by the quality of sleep. One of the reasons of not sleeping well could be high screen time, make sure not to use screens before bed and give your mind a little peace.


2) Maintain a healthy diet: Focus on what you are eating in a day. How nutritious it is for your body? Try to consume a balanced diet that regulates both mental and physical health. Always remember to consume at least 10 glasses of water every day. EAT RIGHT, STAY FIT!


3) FIND A SUPPORT: You don’t have to deal out with all the stress/challenges alone. Find support where you can vent out, it could be a friend, family, neighbor or any professional medical help.


4) PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND EXERCISE: Physical activity and exercise helps in mind activation and challenges one’s ability to perform. It gives you a sense of accomplishment. Exercising helps in discarding the low self-esteem, mood swings etc.


5) AVOID ALCOHOL, SMOKING& DRUGS: Avoid activities that give you withdrawal symptoms. Drugs affect concentration power and lead to anxiousness and low confidence.

7) MAKE A TO-DO LIST: Each morning make a To-Do list which will help you plan your day accordingly and will not lead to unwanted thoughts or emotions. 10) COPING STRATEGIES: In the state of stress& anxiety, what matters the most is how we deal with them? In a chaotic busy schedule, come up with the coping strategies that make you forget about the stress. For example: If you are having a bad relationship, the coping strategy to this stress is end a relationship.
